CSU application question

As a freshman I took Geometry and Lab Biology. I received A+'s in both classes.
Will I be able to use those grades when I apply?
I understand CSUs use 10th and 11th grades only, but in my school , those 2 classes are typically taken as Sophs. I was placed in those classes as suggested.
I also took Alg 1 in 8th grade… Can I use that grade ?
Thanks

On the CSU application, you input all grades 9-11th for the a-g courses. CSU’s just do not use the 9th grades in the CSU GPA calculation. You still need to show that you passed the required a-g courses in 9th grade to meet the minimum requirements to apply. Same for the UC’s but the UC’s do not accept +/- grades on their application as opposed to CSU’s. For GPA calculations, only the letter grade is used, not the +/-.
You will be asked if you have taken a foreign language or Algebra and Geometry in Middle school which will be used to meet the Math requirements for the CSU’s and UC’s.

so as an advanced student you are punished for taking classes before 10th grade ? Doesn’t seem fair

What I mean is I cannot use those A grades in my classes for my GPA …

No, but the schools will still see you took advanced classes and it will be noted since you will reach a higher level by the end of Senior year along with getting A’s in the classes.

My younger son was placed in Alg2 as a HS Freshman since he took Algebra and Geometry in 7th/8th grade and by end of Senior year had taken AP Calc BC. When you fill out the CSU application, you will list your Senior year classes so they will see that you are ahead with your math classes.

Cal Poly SLO looks at your freshman grades.
