CSU Art Program?

Okay so, I'm a senior in high school, and was wondering, do any of you have any feedback on the CSU art program? I've heard it's pretty good.

I want to go to MICA, ideally, but my dad refuses to let me even apply. He won't pay the tuition, will not allow me to go out of state, and says I'm to immature. So MICA, RISD, etc. all those amazing art colleges are out of the question. RMCAD is in my area (I pretty much can't leave Colorado, though I can go to Wyoming and perhaps Santa Fe), but it's to expensive, and their financial aid stuff isn't so great. Should I still apply there? I visited them and the area made me feel really uncomfortable.

Help? I need feedback on CSU art program, RMCAD, and any other art schools of note in my area :)

Which CSU campus? CSU Colorado operates on two sites, one in Fort Collins and the other in Pueblo.
CSU Fort Collin's has a fairly good art history aspect, painting ok.
CSU Pueblo, probably strongest in Ceramics.
Colorado University art programs as a whole tend to be a bit avant garde in focus, to a slight detriment in learning technique. DU, CU, Colorado College probably have the best art history programs. Colorado College overall has a good program, but given the very high tuition there, they'd better. Plus CC is not a place to go unless ones life is free of distractions or obligations outside of college. The way they structure courses is intense (and good) but leaves little room for falling behind.
WSC Gunnison used to have a pretty good art education focus, but Gunnison is a bit isolated in winter. Mesa State in Grand Junction is a small school, but is at the center of a pretty active arts community.
In New Mexico, IAIA is quite good, but has preferential admissions for Native Nations students (which fits into the mission of that school)
Might consider applying for scholarships outside of the university systems also...some Colorado Universities have turned their financial aid offices to private companies, who might not have unbaised agendas.

There is also a digital animation program at the University of Colorado at Denver & Health Sciences Center. I'm not sure how good their art program is overall, but being in the state you can always do a visit.
