Okay first you should know a little about my self. I graduated from the class of 2016 and currently doing a gap year. I am doing the gap year for personal reasons (medical). I am now applying to college and these are some of the schools I have applied and interested in (title of thread). I am interested in theatre arts as my major. That can always change but it is something that I find fascinating.
My GPA for high schools is: 3.7 weighted 9-12, 3.6 weighted 10-12, 3.5 unweighted 9-12, 3.4 unweighted 10-12.
My Old SAT that is took while in high school is mediocre but I have to use it for UC as it says on their application. It is 1650.
My New SAT is better and is 1290 which I will send to the CSUs.
Cal State Chico has a nice campus and their theatre program is quite good. I hear SDSU and CSUF have good programs as well and slightly more well known for theatre but I want to go to a school thats right for me. I hear at SDSU it is sometimes difficult to get classes. Plus I should also add I have only very little theatre training so I am not sure if I would thrive in that environment to really pursue drama. I want to be able to understand what I am learning and be able to put it to use is what I am attempting to say. I am not too sure about CSULB and any information will be greatly appreciated.
Now the UCs. UC Santa Cruz I know has a nice theatre program and so does UCI. I do not know much about UCR though. I am not sure if I will have a worse chance of getting into a UC because of my lower SAT but my guess is that my chances will be at least somewhat less likely.
I am considering attending a CSU to save money but I do know that UCs carry more prestige. Also considering going to CSU for undergrad and grad for UC. I say that knowing that theatre majors may not have many job prospects but still I want to do it. Anyway, any thoughts on me getting into UCs or to possibly going to Cal State Chico for theatre arts would much appreciated!
Edit: Sorry should have put this in the other discussion areas such as admissions or what are my chances! I do not know how to change it.
