CSU Commuter Schools

Which CSU campuses are commuters and which are not, because I can't tell.

I’m sure there are stats available on this very subject, but you may have to go into each school’s website individually. I would say a few that are not heavy commuter schools are:

Cal Poly SLO
Chico
Fresno
Humboldt
San Diego

I’m sure there are many others to add to the above list, although I have no data on-hand to support this list.

^ Agreed…

SDSU is pretty much a commuter school, too. Students live at home or in nice beach areas like Mission or Pacific beach, rather than living adjacent to the school itself. The total number of housing rooms owned by SDSU is about 1800 for a school with over 27,000 undergrads. Note that SDSU requires frosh to live on campus if they’re not from the local area, though.

By “commuter school” I’m using a definition where students don’t live on or near campus.

Monterey is not too commuter, and I don’t think Sonoma is either.

I guess a good question to ask is which CSUs have the most on campus dorms?

Even if the schools doesn’t have a lot of dorm space, few would call Chico or San Luis Obispo commuter schools.

I think SLO has recently added new housing.

Chico also just opened a new housing complex and dining hall this Fall.
