CSU Decisions

His EI is 3998. His GPA is 3.21 and SAT 1430…

Best of Luck to your son!

Accepted at SSU (local) and DH, waiting to hear from more SCal CSU’s.

@Gumbymom my nephew received the same thing about not meeting the requirements. His EI index is 2700 but does not include all of the make up classes from his senior year. Is most likely he got denied was the EI or that they don’t have the senior grades. Thanks

@arubalcaba01 the minimum EI is 2950 at time of application. Senior grades are not used for admissions purposes but an applicant needs to pass all a-g courses to maintain their acceptance so he was denied due to his EI.

@Gumbymom thank you for your response. One more thing. He is also re taking courses that he got a D in to replace them. He did really good in this first semester. Do you know if we appeal they would consider those grades as they are retakes rather than just senior year classes. Thank you again we really appreciate your feedback.

@arubalcaba01: since he is retaking some courses, he may have also not met the 11 of 15 a-g course completion requirement at time of application so another reason his application was denied. He could appeal but the CSU’s are pretty strict that completion of the minimum 11a-g courses along with meeting EI are required at time of application. If he struggled academically in HS, then he would be better off attending a community college and excelling there and aiming for a transfer. Schools want to accept students that will succeed and unfortunately his record does not show he will at this point for the CSU’s. Each school has their own appeal process so he needs to research the options available to him.

@arubalcaba01 If the CSU’s don’t pan out, don’t despair! There are some excellent Community Colleges in CA where you can get guaranteed Junior Yr. admittance to almost all UC’s. It’s very possible that my son may choose to forego a CSU, go to SBCC and then transfer to UCSB or UCSD. This route can get them a great education for less $, and they can transfer to a UC.

1-17-19- CSUDH sent me an acceptance notice for Fall 2019

2/7/19- CSUN sent me an acceptance notice. However, they don’t send it to your actual email, but to your CSUN gmail account. Hopefully they’ll be sending out more during the rest of the month.

Son accepted to CPP for B.S. in Communications. No email from them. Found out by checking the portal.

Son denied at CSULB today, but has been accepted at CSUDH and SSU so far.

Son got waitlisted at CSULB today. Has been accepted to all others that he applied too. Still waiting on a couple more. Good luck to everyone here. Almost there!

as i noted in another post,

LB has a habit of stringing students along on the waitlist well into the Summer. Meanwhile all of the housing and freshmen classes are filling up. I’d consider it a rejection and move forward with deposits, etc elsewhere.

you can always reevaluate if they say yes later.

Yes I have heard that too. Luckily it was not his top choice and he is already in a couple of schools that he likes more. I have heard that housing is a big issue for waitlisted students.

After checking every night, our son was accepted to CSU Chico today.

SDSU and Cal Poly SLO are almost surely far reach.
He has some decent private/OOS school options with pretty good scholarships, but we are still leaning towards in state.

My son was accepted to SDSU and Sac State (Honors) back in December and Cal Poly Pomona earlier this month. He also found out last week he was accepted to the Honors College at SDSU. He is waiting to hear back from CalPoly SLO (where he will go if accepted, if not, he will attend SDSU).

D accepted to Chico. Found out through portal - no email yet. GPA 3.35, SAT 1370. Northern Cal, not local. Also accepted to Sonoma, SF, Channel Islands and private schools. Waiting on Fullerton. Not expecting to get into UCs, but hoping for anomaly…has some extenuating circumstances.
