Hey guys! I’m a current direct entry nursing major at CSUF (on CC threads because I’m tutoring/mentoring some current seniors from my old high school and I want to keep up to date on college admissions), and I just wanted to let you guys know that I’m here if you have any questions throughout your college admissions/decision process. I was a stressed out AP student checking this blog for admissions updates 10x a day myself, so if you have any questions at all, feel free to ask Good luck to all of you in all of your admissions decisions!
@Lulu0716 hello! how are you liking the CSUF nursing program so far?
@liquidsugar It’s a lot of fun so far! The main factors I was looking at when I chose it, other than the typical factors you’d usually consider for a school (financials, name, location, etc.), were the direct entry program (both Fullerton and SDSU, along with both UC’s are like this, but CSULB admits you pre-nursing and requires you to reapply for the nursing program your sophomore year), the option of a four or five year track (a friend of mine in Nursing at Biola is required to go through a five year track, I preferred the four year), and the resources offered. I’m a freshman on a four year track, so I’m currently completing prerequisites, which are pretty interesting classes. Next year we begin clinicals in the simulation lab (mannequins that breathe, talk, vomit, give birth, and die, fun stuff ) and in second semester of sophomore year, we begin clinicals in a hospital setting. It’s fast paced, but you’re well prepared and the older nursing students are around to help out. They get about 3,000-4,000 applications per year and admit around 40 students, so it is competitive, but this stands for most of the state nursing schools, especially CSUF, CSULB, and SDSU. I don’t have the UC numbers on this because I applied to both UCLA and UCI as Biology/Pre med, so I never asked for those stats, but most nursing schools admit around the same number of applicants so that they can efficiently place you all in clinical settings and observe you without being overwhelmed by large numbers of students. These 44 (using my year’s numbers) students take the same nursing classes as you during your entire time at CSUF, so it’s nice to have familiar faces in your classes every time you walk into a new class (only applies to nursing classes though, GE’s are a different story).
@Lulu0716 Do you have an idea as to how long they deploy admission letters
@Lulu0716 wow that sounds like a lot of fun! do you live on campus? my main concern about CSUF is that it’s a commuter school hahaha
Have you been accepted to fullerton? @liquidsugar
@Superman147 I know that they’re one of the first schools to send them out because they send a lot of admissions decisions out in December, BUT you shouldn’t be worried if you haven’t gotten one yet because a friend of mine (great grades, got into several UCs and Cal States) was freaking out come January when a lot of people had already received an acceptance, and she didn’t end up getting hers til February, along with several others in our class.
