CSU Fullerton vs Cal Poly Pomona in Accounting Major

I am admitted from both universities. I am not sure which one I should go.

  • I am an international transfer student (transfer from a community college in TX). I got my sponsors near the both universities, so I am transferring to CA university.
  • My major is accounting (business administration)
  • I am aiming to be a CPA
  • I plan to obtain master degree if it is better than obtaining W major to be a CPA
  • I like Pomona's atmosphere more than Fullerton. I felt Fullerton is so small university after I visited Pomona.
  • Fullerton is accredited in business and accounting by AACSB. Pomona is accredited in only business by AACSB.
  • Pomona has better advisers than Fullerton (based on my experience, so could be wrong)
  • I got offer from Pomona's honors college (I may be able to apply Fullerton's honors program, too)
  • Fullerton offers more scholarship opportunities for international students
  • I would like to work on campus if I have time (international students can work only on campus)
  • I am from Japan
  • My transferring GPA is 3.947/4.0

Any advise is appreciated. Thank you very much in advance.

I feel Cal Poly Pomona has better reputation overall, but mostly due to its Engineering and Science programs and the fact that carries “Cal Poly” on its name ads out-of-state value to your degree. I’m not so sure about Business though. With such as strong transferring-from-college GPA you should look at the University of California system. Particularly Berkeley and UCLA.

I am still waiting for UCs result… but I do not think I can go to UC because of financial issue. Their tuition is super expensive for me.
