CSU fullerton

Hello guys, i would like some feedback on CSUF...I?m an international student and don~t no much about it?s reputation and academics..i?m interested on the radio tv film , and business with entertainment and tourism management concentration.

bbbbbbuuuuuuuuuummmmppppppp

I know its mostly a commuter school. It actually has a solid business program, not sure about the rest. If you want to get into TV or Film, USC is the place to go.

CSUF has a pretty strong business program, but the school is horrible in everything else. You won't find the college experience here. You would be lucky to even find a freshmen who lives on campus, since only 7% do.

It is a commuter school and that's all it is. There is no campus life, and I personally think it is a horrible place to go to school.

"I know its mostly a commuter school. It actually has a solid business program, not sure about the rest. If you want to get into TV or Film, USC is the place to go."too expensive...
Is CSULB any better??

What other schools are you considering?

for what you are considering for your major, CSUF would be better.

What other schools are you considering?
well my dream is USC but i cannot afford it...chapman is also very expensive...CSULB and CSUF both have the major i?m interested and they are not expensive...SDSU i missed the deadline...
I was also considering FSU but when i applyied i choosed enviromental science...and i have realised i don?t want that, plus the weather is terrible too hot and humid...so i don?t really have a choice..i?m just wondering about the CSU?s since i don?t know much about them

Well since USC and Chapman are too expensive. And you were too late for SDSU. I would choose FSU.

Honestly CSUF and CSULB are terrible places to go to college. I mean the students go to class and go home and that's it. They have no school spirit, no parties, and no one lives on campus. I wouldn't even pay instate tuition to attend one of them.

FSU has pretty nice weather, it just gets hot in the summer. And honestly FSU is so much better. I would go there without hesitation. Can't you just change your major once you get there?

i know that CSU are commute schools but i?m not too concerned about that...i just wanna make sure to go to a school that offers my majors and, from the ones i have applied only CSULB and CSUF have it.At CSUF i could major in Business and minor in comunication(radio film tv).FSU doesn?t offer that plus they don?t have a bus. program with a concentration in entertainment.., also it?s extremily dificult to get admission to the College of Motion Picture, Television and Recording Arts.
What i?m looking is an affordable school that offers my major and that has a good reputation and conections with the entertainment industry

Well if you are basing your decision on academics alone, I still wouldn't recommend CSULB or CSUF.

How much would you have to take out in loans if you went to USC.....it might be worth it.

You will have the best post college opportunities in southern California, at least that would be if i am assuming your future career path correctly. I am going by you depicted majors/minor. CSULB and CSUF have great academics actually. I would still have to put CSUF in front in Long Beach for business and the overall feel of the campus. Fullerton has a nicer campus in terms of its architecture, but it suffers from the loss of green which Long Beach surprisingly has plenty of

Please show you proof (SOCAL18) that they don't have good academics

I'm not saying they are bad schools academically, bc I'm sure the professors are good, but i just wouldn't recommend those schools to anyone who got into USC.

and she mentioned she got into USC when?

i?m not a she...heheh
My parents have money to pay USC but they just think that it?s waaayyy too much money....i told them about the connections i would make there but..they said no....USC would cost us 94 grand a year(47.000dolars X2 94.000 brazilian currency), imagine you paying 90 grand to go to a school!!!
CSU will cost 1/2 that price.
so my real options are CSUF ,CSULB, FSU and CUNY...

bummmppp!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Steven Spileberg went to CSULB after twice failing to get into USC's film school. Things worked out okay for him.

Terry Rossio (Radio/TV/Film ‘82) has scored another smash hit as screenwriter for the summer blockbuster, “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.” The movie, inspired by the Disney theme park attraction, has grossed over $300 million at the box office and is the latest film credit for the CSUF alumnus.

He went to my high school and is doing quite well with his Shrek & Pirate's successes. I even have an old school newspaper where he wrote several articles (although I saved the paper for other reasons).

For the entertainment industry it's about internships & connections. When my daughter was deciding, I recommended she go where she could still get a well rounded degree, should the entertainment stuff not work out. USC was her dream school, but financially it was not an option. She too wants to work in the entertainment industry. However, she has decided to go away to school and try to get summer internships in LA when she is home.

very nice..would you mind saying which school she end up at?so you think CSUF is a proper school?

My daughter has decided to major in Public Relations. She narrowed her search by only looking at schools that were accredited by The Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications, or ACEJMC. She applied & accepted to all Cal State schools on this list and to Arizona State. She crossed off all Southern California schools because she was born and raised here and wanted to go away. She has decided to go to San Jose State (opportunities in PR with high tech companies in the Silicon Valley is her backup plan) with BS in Public Relations and a double minor in business/marketing and advertising, with Fullerton her second choice if she had wanted to stay local.

Even though she won’t be applying for an official internship in PR for another year, she frequently visits entertainmentcareers.net website. This gives her an idea what different companies are looking for and the types of internships ,jobs, and locations available.

I know most people on CC don’t think highly of Cal State schools, but unless you’re going to med or law school you will do fine with Long Beach or Fullerton. Good Luck.
