CSU Housing

When it comes to living on campus, how are the CSU dorms/dorm life.
If you or someone you know goes to a CSU, what are the pros and cons that you know of.
10 minutes ago I just applied to a few CSUs, 2016 undergrad opened today!

My younger son is a current SDSU sophomore and lived on campus his first year. He was in a traditional double room with community bathrooms down the hall.

Pros according to him:
Great chance to socialize and meet interesting people
His floor felt like a close knit family
Learning the art of compromise when dealing with roommates

Cons:
RA’s were too strict
Community bathrooms
Found the meal plan expensive and got tired of the eating the same food.
Lack of space

Every CSU will have a variety of dorm options. Some will have the traditional style with community bathrooms. There may be some with suite style, where you share a common living space (living room) and have 6-10 people in separate double/triple rooms.

I suggest you go the housing website for each school to see what is offered. Most CSU’s also have a Freshman housing requirement, meaning if you are outside the local service area, you are required to live on-campus.

It varies a lot by campus.
