Hey, i just recently got accepted to both csu LA and cal poly pomona for marketing major. I know that CSULA is not known for any of it’s program. But after reading online i saw that CalPoly pomona has a very low ranked business school.
I was wondering if anyone know which one would be a better choice for me.
CPP is much stronger academically. They have the ‘guarantee’ you can graduate in 4 years (sign up right away and read the details carefully). You’re more than twice likely to graduate in 4 or 5 years at CPP than at CSULA.
I forgot to mention that i am transferring from a Community college. So I have already done two years here. I would like to know regarding the chances of me getting a job. Would it be better for me to go CPP or CSULA?
CPP.
CSULA doesn’t have the best reputation whereas CPP is on the rise and is now seen as a good CSU.
Oh thank you so much. So even for my marketing major, considering that Pomona’s business school has a Smart rank of 323 while CSU LA’s business school has 216. I should take Pomona due to CSU LA’s bad reputation?
That ranking is meaningless. Utterly meaningless, seriously.
CPP’s business school is better than CSULA’s.
BTW as a marketing major, if you want a job nowadays you’ll need as many statistics or data analysis classes as you can take (up to a minor).
Thank You so much!!! This really helped me with my decisions on where to go. I currently have 1 math statistics class done. So i should take data analysis classes now?
yes, and more statistics. Marketing majors nowadays must be able to use stats and data because all marketing positions rely on these.
I am particularly interested in digital marketing and social media marketing. In your opinion what should i focus on, to get a job in these areas?
These areas will necessarily be covered either in your mandatory classes or in electives you can take. Internships are what matters for anything digital though, so start crafting your resume and take any internship in a company that works in that area, even if it’s to rinse out the coffee pot, OR a small company that’ll entrust you with real work, so that next summer you can apply for a “real” “strong” internship, having proved your mettle already.
Once again, thank you for your tremendous help! I’ve learned so much from this thread.
