I have a 2.6 gpa, and I got rejected from Long Beach for the spring.

Because CSULB is an impacted school, and my major was impacted (psych), then their standards as far as GPA were WAY high. However, I got accepted to CSU Northridge on Friday.

When I spoke to the admissions office, they said if you are over a 2.0, have the required units (above 60) and have at least a C in the four basic classes (math, english ect.) then they must accept you if the campus is not impacted.

This goes for the rest of the CSU’s as well. HOWEVER. If the campus is impacted, like many of the CSU’s, then they will require a higher GPA. And if your major is impacted, is like a double whammy.

This has been confirmed by the spokesman from Northridge that I spoke too on the phone, and this:

http://saweb.csus.edu/students/download/Enrollment_Management_QnA.pdf

Now, if the campus, such as CSULB, is impacted, then they will require a higher GPA, and their priority will be students in their service area first, THEN students outside the service area.

I’m sorry to say, that with a 2.6 gpa, I was not surprised at all to get rejected. What I recommend doing, is applying for Northridge, or another campus that is not impacted, and then once your in, raise your gpa a little, then try transfering to Long Beach if thats really where you want to go.
