CSU Long Beach Enrollment for Spring 2011 , True or Fraud ?

Okay I just graduated high school in 2010, and i started a community college for the fall of 2010 because I didn't get accepted to any UC's and i got accepted to SF state but i didn't want to go there. I applied for CSULB also, but got rejected. So today I got an email saying

"Great News! CSULB is now able to accommodate a significant number of eligible students for Spring 2011 due to the funding provided in the recently passed state budget. You originally applied for admission for Fall 2010. We unfortunately were not able to accommodate you then because of the state budget crises. But now, we have a space for you for the Spring 2011 term if you are interested!

If you would like to enroll at CSULB for this Spring, reply to this email no later than November 10, 2010 with the following information:

Put “yes I want to enroll” in the subject line. That’s it - no application or fee.

Include your CSULB campus id (if you still have it),

Let us know where you are currently enrolled for Fall 2010. "

and its email from "es-admit@csulb.edu" and theres more info on the email regarding questions and stuff like that. I called the admissions office number and they said I just had to follow what the email said. The only thing is im a little suspicious, I never heard of any of this happen before. Is this true or fraud? Thanks.

True. $220 million has been restored to the Cal State budget so Cal State U’s are opening back up to those who want to enroll for spring semester. It’s been in all the papers.

when they say I was invited to enroll, does it mean I’m automatically in ??

WT F? I didnt get this email…

Yes, it is true that CSULB will be open for Spring 2011. However, only UPPER DIVISION (60 semester / 90 quarter units completed) transfers will be admitted. First time freshman and lower division students cannot apply. In your case, you cannot apply.

Wow, please disregard my last sentence in my last post. I don’t mean to sound condescending at all, and I hope I didn’t cause any offense.

lastsymphony, what makes you think only upper division transfers can enroll? Btw, if you received the second email you posted on a different thread, you don’t “apply,” you are already admitted and have permission to enroll. I’m a freshman and I received that email, so I’m already admitted.

LastSymphony is correct.

So high school students have first priority and we (the transfers) have what ever is left over?

I was thinking the exact opposite.

This idea that only upper division transfer students are being admitted to Long beach now is incorrect. My daughter is a Freshman at Cal Poly SLO and also received this email to transfer (she did not get in to Long Beach for the fall). She followed the directions in the email and received a letter dated Nov 14th that she is indeed accepted for the Spring quarter if she would like to go. Now she just has to decide if she wants to transfer. We called the housing office at Long Beach today and they are not certain she can get housing for that term, so it is a very difficult decision for sure.

im pretty sure upper division transfers got dibs then others get priority
