CSU to CC to CSU transfer

Hi! I went to SJSU last year, and wasn’t much of a fan, so I went home and decided to get my associates degree to transfer in Communications! I will have over 70 units completed by the end of spring, and I have applied to SDSU under communications and Fullerton under communications- journalism. However, I called SDSU and they said I would be considered lower priority because I have already been admitted to the CSU system and attended a State University. Has anyone heard of this and how it affects transfer applicants? Especially to a competitive school like SDSU.

I currently have a 3.7 GPA and this includes some upper division major classes I have completed at SJSU. I am getting my AA-T and am in Orange County.

Thank you!

By charter, all the CSUs must show some preference to local applicants. A few of the more competitive CSUs like SDSU, CPSO and Fullerton make that preference even more pronounced - making transferring in from outside their ‘local area’ really difficult. Via TAG. most of the UCs are more accessible to transfers than SDSU… crazy but true.

Based on your stats, i think Fullerton will take you and SDSU is a coin toss. I hope it comes up heads.

Good luck.

Thank you! I appreciate the feedback
