Hi im currently a first semester freshman at SDSU and i was planning on finishing my first semester and withdrawing after to attend a cc. Will my chances of transferring to a UC be less because i have one semester of SDSU or will i now be considered a cc transfer becuase i have more cc units than csu units. Oh and i was wondering if my financial aid from sdsu such as the pell grant and cal grants both living allowance and tuition grants will transfer to the cc as well?

In most cases, I think after a semester/two semesters you’re considered a CC student; honestly, I don’t think you have much to worry about. I have about 20 units from two schools other than a CC and I am hopeful about getting into a UC

You should be fine. I would suggest confirming this with the respective UC’s you are looking at applying to though.

Personally, I took my freshman year at a CSU (25 units) and now go to a CC and I am considered a CC student, so I don’t see why you wouldn’t be.

thanks for the responses, i have one more quick question CalGal if i were do my second semester at a cc will my financial aid such as pell grant and cal grant carry over?

That I’m not sure of. If it does carry over though, you’ll probably get less aid.

Mine didn’t carry over, but that’s because my parent’s income was too high for community college standards, so a bit of it depends on your own situation.

“Oh and i was wondering if my financial aid from sdsu such as the pell grant and cal grants both living allowance and tuition grants will transfer to the cc as well?”

I really do not think you can expect SDSU to provide you with financial aid to attend a different school so you would probably have to apply again through your new school. I think CCC students are expected to live at home so there will be no reason to provide a living allowance and tuition is still so low at CCCs there probably will be no grants for tuition either.
