I attended Sonoma State University for my freshmen year and completed 24 semester units (36 quarter units) and did not like the school so Iam attending Foothill a CC by my house and will complete (75 quarter units) by the end of this year. I am planning to apply to the UC's for fall 2008.. My question is how can I know that my sonoma units will transfer??? All the Sonoma classes I took were used to complete GE's at that school.. Any advise from anyone??

I say the best thing to do as go to your current community college and speak to a counselor along with the courses you have taken at sonoma and the cousnelor will be able to let you knwo waht transfer and what didn't.

Because my friend was the same thing, she wanted to see how many units will she have if she was to go to a CC (PCC) from a CSU (fullerton) but majority of hte ge classes that she took did not transfer over to her CC so she decided not to go to the cc anymore and just stay at fullerton

Ya I called UCSD and they told me there is no certain way to judge if my classes form my CSU will transfer. He said I have to apply and hope they do or just wait untill complete 90 at the CC.. This sucks because I could be at 90 by the summer so Im stuck on what to do..AHHH

m3p...this is VERY important...what ever you do, make sure that you call the UC's that you plan to apply for and speak w/ an admissions rep to go over all of your classes and see which ones they will take. You might even be asked to fax transcripts. You will need to do this ASAP. My husband took several courses at a private college that the community college would not accept so it was assumed that the UC wouldn't either. One of the UC's said they are going to apply every single credit and it sent him over the unit limit cap (80 semester units) and now his transfer agreement is in jeapordy. The other UC he is applying to also said they might apply some of them and he has to meet w/ them next week to go over transcripts. It's a mess and he hasn't even submitted the application yet.
If you call they will be able to tell you which classes they will accept so that you have everything you need.
Good luck

I did the exact same thing you are referring to. My first year was at SDSU, and the following year I attended De Anza/ Foothill. I judged how my classes would transfer by seeing how the classes at De Anza/ Foothill compared to SDSU through Assist..org... After that I compared the class's equivalent from De Anza / Foothill with the UC I wanted to transfer through Assist.org... It gave me a good idea of how they would transfer.

I just got into UCLA for the winter quarter, so when I find out from them how my units transfer I can tell you how accurate this method is.

It really sucks that the classes and systems don't work the same between different types of colleges. I go to a UC and applied to a few CSU's last month and was completely baffled by the different types of requirements.
