CSU TO CC TO UC Transfer

Hello everyone! I just finished my first year at cal state Fullerton and I am now planning to transfer to a CC then to a better school. I am a computer science student hoping to get into UC Irvine in a Year from Mt. Sac community college. My question is that is there a unit limit that I have to take at a CC to be considered a community college student when I transfer? I have taken more than almost 40 semester units here and about almost 30 are UC transferable. (I know this because I checked which of my csu courses articulate with the cc and the cc with UC). Do you think this is a good idea? If I dont get into UCI, I can at least have something like Cal poly Pomona as a back up. Program here at CSUF have bad reviews from people who went through it. If I have more than 70 semester units when I transfer, will that hurt my chances? Any advice on this topic other than the ones I have asked would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

as long as all the units you take have been lower division, you can accumulate 300 units and still be eligible to transfer because they will cap the number of units they give credit for. The only exception is if you take units at a UC school, there is no cap on the number of units they add to your total in determining if you have too many units.

The definition of a CCC transfer is on the page at http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/counselors/transfer/advising/igetc/ and probably other places

Look carefully into the requirements for Irvine. Majors such as CS usually have special rules in addition to the ordinary rules for CC transfers. One link is http://admission.universityofcalifornia.edu/transfer/preparation-paths/computer-science-majors/index.html and that may not be the complete set of rules you must follow

Also look into whether you qualify for TAG, which is an admission guarantee. CS at UCI is eligible for the guarnatee. I’ve never got a clear answer to whether kids that go to a CCC for only 1 year are eligible to use the program. It is worth checking with Irvine admissions.

The course Computer organization and assembly language is not articulated with any UC but it is articulated with cal polys. Would taking that course still help my UC admission chances even if it isnt articulated?
