CSU to CC to UC

So im a senior in high school and I did very well until the first semester of junior year. Although, I brought my grades up after that, I KNOW I wont make it to the top UC's. I know i can make it to the average CSUs like Fullerton and Northridge...so Im thinking of going to CSUF my freshman year, then transferring to a CC my sophmore year then applying to UC's as a transfer student...please dont tell me to stay at a CSU because they're a good schools, i know that but i want to go to a UC...I know a lot of classes aren't transferable to UC's and I dont understand the college system at all since no one in my family went to colllege..im planning to major in Mechanical Engineering..can you guys help me choose classes in both CSU and CC so i can transfer to a UC as fast as possible? Also why is berkely so strict about their prereqs? can you guys tell me what classes i should take if i want to transfer to berkely? please dont link me to Berkely's website, I seriously read the attachment, but i still dont get anything because I have no idea what is going on...thank you!!

If you are going to do CC to UC then just go to CC, don’t jump around. At a CC you will have a transfer advisor. But you should rely on yourself to make sure you are on track. There is a lot of information on the website of the CC about transfers. It takes a bit of effort to understand and work through maybe, but you don’t need to understand all the details now. Really, if you aren’t capable of reading and working this out for yourself you chances for transfer are small.

You want to read about articulation agreements. Articulation defines what class at a cc will transfer to CSU or UC. The ASSIST system helps you figure out transferable classes.

You will want to look at agreements for CCs near you. Here is one sample page from a CC
https://www.deanza.edu/transfer/transfer_resources/articulation.html

Fullerton is a top CSU, not an average CSU.

@mom2collegekids OP wants prestige like Berkeley and LA

@BrownParent‌ i really want to go to a 4-year college my first year to get away from home and other personal reasons so yeah and i completely understand that my councilor at CSUF wont help me with transferring but i really tried figuring it out on my own but i still don’t understand a lot of things.

can someone help me please?

Help you with what? Making a nonsense plan? You have to make your own plan. You cannot have people from a message board picking classes for you. Start by reading how graduation requirements work for a UC AND for CSU. Like I said, use ASSIST to find classes that transfer.

What is your UC GPA? What are your test scores?

Will your parents pay for your college? If not, how will costs get paid? Do you qualify for Cal Grants/ Blue and Gold?

Are you only interested in UCLA and Cal?

@mom2collegekids‌ my UC gpa is 3.4 and my SAT score is 1600
i qualify for a lot of financial help because my family is low income and I think i qualify for cal grant A i currently have a job as well and i used the net price calculator for CSUF and im basically gonna get more money than i need so if it’s accurate i’ll be covered.
i would like to get in UCLA or Cal but im also interested in Cal Poly SLO, UCSB, USC, and UCSD.

You need to take your SAT again.

You should go to CC, really it’s not below anyone to start at a CC, plenty of kid’s friends are going to CC.

@anniebeats yes i am. I’m also taking an SAT class so it should help me.

Go to a CC from the beginning. You will meet with an adviser and select classes appropriate for your major. Your CC will have workshops on transfer procedures plus will probably have a transfer club (which you should join). It doesn’t make sense to start at a CSU then transfer to a CC.
