CSU to CC?

I'm currently attending Cal Poly Pomona as a Computer Science major and I have no idea if I made the right choice. I literally live 10 minutes away from Cal State Long Beach, but at the time I chose my college, I felt my major would be better at Pomona than Long Beach. Problem is I don't enjoy my time at Pomona. Better late than never my question is would it be a smart choice to attend my local community college and transfer to any CSU or UC? Would my quarter at Cal Poly Pomona bite me in the ass when I'm transferring to another California college from a CC?

Anyone?? Please help?!

Bump bump bump

What is it you don’t enjoy at CPP? Is it the major? The campus? What do you want to change, exactly?

It’s certainly possible to go to a CC and take courses, even after having enrolled at a Cal State. Your quarter at CPP won’t hurt you unless you’re failing all of your courses. Can you finish out these next couple of weeks in the quarter in good standing?

Yeah I can complete this quarter in good standing. Just that I don’t enjoy CPP for some personal reason and would go to a CC to think it over. I live 30 miles away (Huntington Beach) from Pomona and I don’t think major for Computer Science at Cal Poly Pomona is worth the drive up there.

Are you thinking you don’t ever want to return to CPP? I’d advise not burning any bridges because it has a good CS major. Try talking to the advisers on campus at CPP and see what they say about not coming back next quarter, but leave open the possibility of returning after you take a year or two of courses at a CC. That way if you change your mind in a year you’ll still have options. After a year and a half at a CC, assuming you do well, you could transfer to CPP, Long Beach or even to a UC if you decide that would be a better fit.

My cousin’s son spent a year at SJSU as a CS major, then left to take courses at a CC for a couple of years. There’s still the possibility for him to return to SJSU.

The risk is that you won’t be able to get the courses you need at a CC in any given quarter, and it will take you more than 4 years to graduate. Is that something you’re ok with?
