I went to San Jose State last year as a Freshman. I only have 25 units from SJSU, and I'm currently attending a CCC (West Valley College) and I'm enrolled in 16 units. I have 6 units from my summer classes at a different CCC. Since I plan on spending the rest of this year at West Valley as a full-time student and reaching the 60 unit requirement, what do UC's consider me as when I apply this upcoming fall? I really hope they'll consider me as a CCC student instead of a CSU student, or else dropping out of SJSU was a big mistake. By the end of Spring 2013, I will have 39 CCC units total.

If you were in good academic standing when you left SJSU you could probably return there and continue your studies without much difficulty if that ultimately proves to be your best course of action. It is fairly common for a student to take time off for other pursuits and not attend continuously for four years. The one thing you would have to be careful about is if you end up in bad academic standing at your CCC or a UC. That would have to be reported to SJSU and it would then be unlikely you would get readmitted.
