CSU to UC best course of action???

Currently I’m enrolled in SFSU as a freshman and I’d like to transfer to a UC. So I’ve heard that it’s incredibly difficult to transfer between CSUs to UCs so I’d like advice from anyone who has advice to give.

My current situation:

-Currently taking 15 credits at SFSU (still have one semester to go).

-30 AP credits from HS

And so I was wondering what the best course of action would be at my current state. Should I switch to CCC and then attempt to transfer to a UC? From what I’ve heard, you need 60 credits to be considered a transfer student and the majority of that 60 should be from a CCC if you want to transfer from a CCC. If I already have 30 AP credits and will most likely have another 30 at the end of the year should I cut back on classes 2nd semester? Or should I just wait out the year and give transferring from a CSU a shot.

Sorry if any of that seemed confusing but thanks to anyone who replies.

I didn’t read all of this closely, but if you have your major requirements completed by spring and most of your GE (depending on major) you could apply for next fall. The application window is this November (the entire month).

You need to go to assist, pick any CCC, the UC and major. Then make sure you fulfill the req by spring.

You also need to look at that dept’s (college) AP award system. A lot of the AP can be applied to IGETC, and some breadth, depending on college. (For instance you cannot apply AP to Berkeley’s College of Letters and Science if you are completing breadth, but you can apply it to IGETC.) So you need to determine best GE path for your major, and making sure all req done by spring.

Yes, priority is given to CCC, but CSUs get in, especially if you have a strong GPA. You can always give it a shot, then reassess next year if it doesn’t work out - in other words, do a year at CCC.
