CSU to UC Transfer Assistance (Any CSU to UC Transfers out there?)

Hello everyone, I’m a current freshmen at Cal State Dominguez Hills and although I’m attending a CSU, I hope to transfer
to a UC in my junior year. As a high school senior, I was originally intending to go to a Community College so I have a higher possibility of attending one of my dream schools ( UC Irvine or UC Davis) through TAG but all of my previous teachers discouraged me from taking that decision (which I ultimately regret with my life) because according to them there’s no guarantee that I would transfer in two years and might possibly be there for 4 years or longer since community colleges tend to be packed. It was not till later on I found out community colleges offered first priority programs for new incoming freshmen so now my only hope is to transfer from a CSU to UC (yeah I know, I’m last priority). I was intending to transfer to a CC in my sophomore year but a fried who did that says its a bad idea because it wouldn’t look good in a job application if I attended so many schools because it would show signs of a lack of commitment. Although I’m a current freshmen, I have 23 CSU/UC transferable units I earned from high school (AP and community college classes) to hopefully make up for the units that won’t transfer over. I need advice on this subject please. Also, I was just curious if there are any successful transfers from a CSU to a UC that could share there stats and courses they took. Just the basics would be cool and their experiences transferring. By the way, my major is political science and I have a 3.11 GPA but I have time to improve it. Thanks

Do not listen to your friend. Employers are more interested in your job skill set than in many schools you attended for undergrad.

I will post a link that shows the #transfers by school for the UC’s. The most up to date data is for 2015 and it shows that 10 applicants from CSUDH applied for transfer to the UC’s system wide. Only 3 were admitted to a UC.

If you look at a local CCC such as El Camino College, there were 632 applicants with 466 admitted to a UC. Much better odds. Go to a CCC and TAG to UCI or UCD.

Good Luck.

Post the link please. Thanks. So looks like I’m going to a CC then.

You are about 8 weeks into you college career - take a breath. Do your best academically. Take advantage of the opportunities at CSUDH. Get involved in Student Gov, get an internship at a local municipality, join a club or two and see how you feel next October. If you still want to transfer, that path will be open to you.
