CSU to UC Transfer

I keep hearing how hard it is to get into a UC from a CSU and I want the truth guys. What GPA will I need to transfer into UCs such as UCLA, Cal, UCSB or even a state school like Cal Poly. Would it be worth it to drop out of Chico State as a Soph to a community college? I am taking all GE classes right now, so will most of these transfer or not? I'm projecting having a 3.5 GPA by the end of fall semester, where will that get me?

If you want to get into Cal/UCLA from a CSU you will need a near 4.0 3.95+ i would say.

You are the last priority

C.C student being 1st
UC to UC/OOS 2nd
CSU 3rd

and yes it probably will be worth it if you want into CAl/UCLA

Transfering into cal poly is hard as well since most CSU tend to want to admit students from their “Service” area

If I attended a CC this upcoming year, would I have to stay there for two years before transfering or would I be able to do it in only one year? What about attending a CSU and CC at the same time?

I went to CSU for my freshman year and decided that I wanted to transfer to a UC instead. I went to a CC for my sophomore year and now I’ll be transferring to a UC in sept. I would personally recommend you to do the same; however, since you are a sophomore student you should consider the amount of units you currently have. You need at least 60 to transfer to a UC but you cannot have more than 90.
I was at my CC for no longer than a year, and I’m sure you may be able to do the same depending on the classes you have taken. I had a lot of my GE’s done at my cal state which helped me focus on the prereqs that were required for my major. I would recommend you to look at the IGETC and see how many of your GE’s you have completed and completely them at a CC in the upcoming year. I would also recommend you to take a look at assist.org and see what prereqs the UC you want to go to require for your major. These are classes you should also look into taking at your CC for the upcoming school year. As peterr86 said, CSU’s are looked at last with all the other various university applicants, so you have a stronger chance of getting in from a CC. It may be easier for you to transfer from your cal state to a cal poly, although I’m not sure how that system works

transferring from CSULA to UC
I hear it is completely impossible from some people. So far, I’ve only heard back from UC Davis. Accepted for political science. Waiting on UCLA and Berkeley!

One thing I do regret is not applying to more privates. The UC system gives too much priority to CC transfers.

Stats:
3.775 GPA
Political Science / Philosophy

Yeah well it looks like I’ll be attending a CC next year then, thanks to all of you!
