I am currently a 2nd year at CSUF, almost a 3rd year after this semester. My G.P.A. is 3.6, major G.P.A. 3.75. Major is Computer Science. I work 25 hours a week and don't have much volunteer experience.

What are the chances of me transferring to UCI? Is it near impossible since I am at a CSU and priority is given to CCC? Has anyone successfully transferred from a CSU to UC? Thanks

Depends on your major.

You might not be eligible to transfer. If you are sophomore now and have not yet applied then the deadline is long passed for this upcoming Sept. The earliest you’d be able to enroll at UCI would be Sept 2015. The problem is that the next school year at CSUF you’ll be taking upper-division classes and the UC’s have a rule making high-unit juniors or seniors ineligible. It varies slightly by campus, you’d have to look up the UCI details.

Since I declared my major pretty late, I will still be taking lower-divisions in the 2014-2015 academic year. I know there’s no unit cap to transfer to UCI, but they only take in 70 units.

@mayday5 - You’re right, but if you take even 1 upper division course you would be made in eligible so just he careful because you’re right on the line

Is finishing GE requirements for CSU count as completion for UC’s GE?

To anyone reading this, It doesn’t matter where you are transferring from, if you are the right fit for the school they will accept you
I recently applied to UC Berkeley,LA,Irvine,SB,SD from CSU Fullerton
I had a 3.81 GPA, but all of the classes I took were strategically picked out.
Everyone I knew told me I had no chances of getting into any of the UC’s considering the priorities go to community college applicants, but I believed in myself and I still applied.
I was accepted into:
Berkeley-Electrical Engineering and Computer Science(EECS) joint with nuclear engineering (Full Scholarship)
Irvine- Aerospace Engineering (70% Full Scholarship)
Santa Barbara- Electrical Engineering( honors program) (Full Scholarship)
Los Angeles- (waitlist) ( EECS)
rejected from San Diego (Nano-Engineering)
As of now, I am almost sure that I want to go to UC Berkeley. (waiting on private schools)

IF you believe that you are a strong candidate that is well accomplished and wants to transfer to a UC from a CSU, then by all means apply and hopefully you will get in. I hope my recent accomplishments will motivate you and excite you to want to apply and get yourself to a better place.
