CSU Transfer 2020

hi everyone.
I know it’s a bit early for this, but I was denied admissions for fall '19 so I’m taking more classes this year to be able to transfer next year. My top choices are SDSU and CSUSM (I’m local so I want to stay in the area). I’ll be applying to other CSU’s as well just in case since my GPA is low ( ≈ 2.8). Also I already have an AA-T for Psychology.
Is anyone else applying this year after being denied because of the low GPA? Do you think I have a chance to get into State next year?

i think your GPA is going to make both tough targets. Perhaps you can retake a D or two and bump it up. Either way, you should apply to your target schools but, also apply to a non-impacted school or two, maybe CSUCI?

I agree with @NCalRent that getting into SDSU and even CSUSM will be tough with a GPA below 3.0. Local priority can help and even though the minimum transfer GPA for Psychology is 2.5 for SDSU, it does not mean a guaranteed admission with a 2.8. Take a look at the admitted Transfer thread for ideas of your chances.

I have also linked the average CSU transfer GPA by campus and you are below all the CSU campus averages.

Having the AA-T will guarantee you a spot at one of the impacted campuses.

I’m sure this has been asked before but can’t find. I completed 2 courses during winter intermission (both As - yay!) - and want to update my transcript on CSU Apply and in supplemental applications for schools that have not made decisions for me yet (SDSU, CSULA, CPP, SLO). It seems that is not a possibility though - as the applications are locked. Is there any benefit to trying to report these grades or are they definitely not considering anything past Fall 2019? I did update my UC applications (UCI, UCD) but have no idea if or how they might consider the update. If anyone has insight, appreciate it.

@Rottgrrl : No supplemental for CSULA (unless you applied for Nursing) or CPP

For SLO: All transfer students are required to submit a supplemental application. It will be available on the MyCalPoy portal between January 4, 2020 and January 31, 2020.

For SDSU: Transfer applicants are required to submit a supplemental application through the SDSU WebPortal. Must be submitted by January 22, 2020.

Since this is past the deadline for the supplementals, check your application portal to see if transcripts are required prior to the decisions or you can update directly on the portal. You can always call admissions to confirm but since decisions are coming out shortly, the winter intersession grades may not make a difference.
