CSU Transfers

apparently some uc's know chico for being the "party-school"...which unfortunately..is true...(beer pong, beer on the streets, beer everywhere)

for that reason, people who transfer from chico to a UC tend to be of lower priority

Sounds possible, but unlikely. I should think all CSU students get the same priority. If you're a poor student, they can tell from your grades and don't need to guess based on what school you attend.

*** mate?
why do you people wanna leave SDSU?
i only ask because i just got accepted.

im call you out UCSCplease, locostudman, oxypunk151

Chico is a good school, its a colle town, most are going to be party schools. Besides, I think they've toned it down in the last few year. Chico is a great outdoors place, plenty of things to do, it's not like if you go there you'll get caught up in partying 5 times a week.

Just got an admittance email from CSULA.

Oops, ignore that post above, it was meant to be in the other thread.

is dumb

i got denied from sdsu

3.5 gpa comp sci
pre-reqs not done

It's a great school but frankly, I'm sick of Southern California. It's too superficial for me however I'd guess I'd be contradicting myself If I ended up going to UCSB but it's certainly better than state.

It's not the party atmosphere that deters me, I party every weekend. It's the greek system that I'm not a fan of and the mass amounts of douche bags and skanky hos. San Diego is way too built up for my standards of living.

Sorry to post in an old thread, but how do cal state students know if their courses will be able to transfer to a uc?

that's a good question. i don't think we can really know for sure. at least, there isn't a site like assist.org for csu only that i'm aware of. for me, i just called ucsb and asked. the answer i got was from someone who sounded unsure. he said that they will know for sure during my first quarter when they get my profile all together. he said that professional classes most likely won't transfer. for example, my public relations writing class and legal counseling class probably won't transfer, but my intepersonal comm and research methods class will.

I used assist to cross reference my csu and ucsb by using the local CC

for example MATH 1420 (at my CSU) = MATH 172 (at local CC) = MATH 3B (at UCSB)

its an annoying process but it helps give you an idea of what your classes will transfer as

^genius

10 char

I impress myself sometimes

lol jk

For l&s, you also need 1 year calc., 1 year foreign language and your major pre-req's.

A bump for this thread too. I'm wondering who got accepted into Cal, because about 2 years ago, when I went to talk to a Berkeley admissions person, she told me that even with a 4.0 my chances of getting in coming from a CSU were VERY SLIM and that I should consider going to a CCC for a year to increase my chances. I'm glad I stayed at my CSU and still got accepted.

Sociology, 3.9.

Other CSU transfers? How did everything pan out?

I will be starting freshman year(fall 08) at CSULB, rejected from UCLA but i am on a mission to get in...

wtboutcollege, if you are on a mission to get in, and in the super competitive major of communications, then you should "rlly rlly rlly" go to a CCC instead
