CSUCI vs UCR

Hey everyone,

I’m currently an online student but am looking to transfer to a California university to be close to family and get the college experience. My major is Environmental Science, and I have narrowed my top two schools down to Cal State Channel Islands and University of California Riverside. Which school is better/has a better Env Science program?

My current GPA is 3.88 and I will be starting my junior year next year. Both schools are within my family’s budget. My FAFSA parent has lived in California for a year now, so I am considered a resident for UC purposes. I also know that CSU is affordable. I am part of a lot of many minority groups, including being part of the LGBT community, a racial minority, and a religious super-minority, so I am looking for a more accepting and diverse school. CSUCI’s Env Science & Resource Management program looks great, but I think UC has more prestige?

get into both, then worry about which to choose. A tour of both will push you one way or the other.

Also, double check your residency status. My understanding, it is almost impossible to obtain ‘resident’ status as a continuing student if you have been attending classes, even on-line.
