I have been admitted to a handful of universities in California from community college. My top two choices are either UC Irvine (chemistry) or CSUF (biology). I am having trouble deciding between the two schools due to my last semester before official transferring.
I am currently taking Calculus 2 (my only course) and have a D+ right now. I have been told from the professor that I need a 72% average on the next two exams and the final in order to secure a C. This sounds doable but there is a part of me that is uncertain based on my past scores. If I do not earn a C for Irvine, I am afraid all of my acceptances will be rescinded and I will stay at CC for another semester or even more.
UCI requires a 2.0 GPA as well as Calculus II in order to transfer, whereas CSUF says that Calculus II is only recommended. I do not see a term GPA requirement before transfer.
My question to you all is this:
- If I stay in the Calculus II and I end up with a D, would my admissions to CSUF be declined even though I meet over the GPA requirement? Would I be able to put my acceptance on hold?
- If my acceptance will be rescinded by UCI with a D, would it be a better decision to drop the Calculus II so I am for sure accepted to CSUF.
- Should I just give it all I have got and aim for a C because life is too short to not take risks!!!!
Thank you. I will be reading replies over the weekend until I can call the schools personally.
P.S. I hope to be either a Physician Assistant or an Occupational Therapist, all of which I have been told to pick a cal state instead in order to have a highly likelihood of a higher GPA.
