CSUF vs CSUN, Which is better?!

These are my top 2!

Which is better ?

Things im looking for other than general education quality

  • Social Life
  • Dorm Life
  • The people
  • Surrounding City / City Life (Very Important)
  • Campus Quality
  • Technology

Social Life
Both are commuter schools so you won’t see heavy involvement on either campus. Depending on your major, one university might have more clubs that you can relate to than the other which is helpful in getting involved and making friends so you may want to look into that.

  • Dorm Life
Can’t answer this for Fullerton, although for Northridge I heard it’s decent at best on the weeknights and dead on the weekends. You can find parties and ways to have fun through friends and social media though.
  • The people
For Northridge, some of the first year students aren’t too heavily dedicated so you won’t be able to interrelate a lot in college related topics, but everyone I’ve met is fun to be around and they enjoy what they are doing.
  • Surrounding City / City Life (Very Important)
For Northridge, there are a lot of restaurants and apartments nearby which is a plus. Freeway is far from campus. Everywhere nearby is usually very active during the weekdays. Fullerton was pretty active too from what I remember, however.
  • Campus Quality
Fullerton is more up-to-date from the outside view while Northridge could use a makeover for some of the buildings. Classrooms and most the halls at Northridge have a lot of seating spaces and are well maintained.
  • Technology
Wifi sucks in Dorms, but I’ve heard it’s like that for most campuses.

I would pick based on which area you enjoy more and the one that is better for what you decide to major in.

@thunderman15‌

Thanks for your input! Its so close to decide for me between these 2 schools since they both have great things to offer.

I think now I will visit both of the campuses (even though im an international student from Canada) and see which one is right for me.

Just to let you know, Fullerton State is the 8th best CSU whereas Northridge State is the 16th/17th best CSU similar to Monterey Bay State, according from US News.

Don’t let this make you choose Fullerton right away however, Northridge does have some potential like Thunder says. I would visit both campuses and see how it’s like to even begin with. Northridge has the bigger campus compared to Fullerton. Both have A LOT of stuff to do around there - Northridge has Six Flags while Fullerton has Disneyland for example. Google maps (satellite) could give you an ideal setting of how both campuses are like.

Although Fullerton may be better overall, Northridge may be better than Fullerton in your major and other stuff possibly, you will have to research both of them.

Also don’t solely research the schools, research the city also…especially if you’re planning to live off campus.
