CSULB Business Transfer Student

hello,

I am currently in my 2nd year of a CC and by Spring of 2011, I will be completed with my GE classes in all sections. I am applying to CSULB as a Information Systems major which falls under Business. Unfortunately, due to budget cuts, I was not able to complete 1 class that is a lower division class for CSULB. The class is Business-Calculus, Math 115 at CSULB.

I was wondering if CSULB will automatically deny my admission because I do not have that ONE class since it is a impacted major and CSULB is known to have a great overflow of applicants. If i don't get in, I will be at a CC for 1 year and it would be a waste because I would only need to take 1 class.

Anyone have any input on this situation?

Thanks

I think they will be very strict. They want all pre-requisites completed before acceptance. Can’t you take it in the spring? Or take it at a different CC, or at a private college, maybe online? It could be worth the investment. (but check that CSU Long Beach will accept online courses).

One more idea: How about applying as a Business Economics major? That’s in the College of Liberal Arts, not the business school, and it’s not impacted. Check it out. Not sure if CSULB lets you have a second choice major on the application as a transfer student, but if they do, perhaps that could work also. The course you haven’t taken is still a pre-requisite, but since that major is not impacted, maybe there is some leeway there. Try to talk with someone in admissions and someone in the Business Economics program. Good luck!

That was a GREAT idea! Oh man, thanks for your reply, but unfortunately I already applied to to CSULB 2 weeks ago =[
