CSULB - Class of 2015

uhm,

my to-do list changed. it got rid of the need to see my independent verification form.

does that mean they somehow got the proof on their own and i dont need to send in court papers anymore?

tutudragon16- If it’s not in your to-do-list, don’t worry about it.

So for an OOS student, is 15,350.00 a good financial package? Just wondering. OF course that only covers my tuition, not housing so I guess that means living with the rentals still. Teh lame sorez!

on that note about aid, after i use it for housing and tuition, i seem to have about 4,000 left over. could that be for personal use you think or only school-related purchases?

although i’m not dissing the extra money. good start for my “Study Abroad to Japan Senior Year” fund,

I don’t understand. It says I got $5,500 in Stafford loans - but it’s telling me it’s an award. How is something I have to PAY BACK an award? I called the office of financial aid and she says that’s how much they’re helping me - but if it’s a LOAN HOW IS THAT HELP/AN AWARD? Doesn’t make any sense to me. If they’re not gonna help me they should say it point blank.

13k in aid including loans… Gahhh

ouch.

i guess i should be thankful of my 17k, 2k of it being loans.

not specific though. just says “estimated loan, estimated state grant, estimated pell grant, estimated SGEO(or something like that) grant”

and i can’t accept them yet either. just wait i guess?

$17,000 in financial aid [including a $5,000 loan unfortunately]. Thank you Lord for divorce! My sister got no financial aid her first year in college [even with six kids in the family] , but after my parents got divorced she received tons of financial aid lol.
I can’t accept mine either.
And I believe it might say “estimated” because they have to wait until you actually graduate for them to say the grants are official. [Just my guess]

@EvaEve03- Your aid covers tuition. Your housing is all on you though.
@tutudragon16- All “extra” money is yours to spend at your own discretion.
@annathatshibby- Yeah loans are considered part of your “awards” package. You don’t have to accept them though.

@PowerOfOne: I know! It sucks that my parents are horrible at saving money or else I would be able to afford on-campus. But alas tuition being paid off is what matters, housing is a perk and doesn’t really matter if I live on-campus or not.

I’m sorry you can’t dorm like you wanted, so hopefully you will like living at your own place better. :] Do you already know where you want to reside?

@powerofone: well my sister lives in east la (my hometown) so my parents and i are going to go near that area

Question, when can we sign up for SOAR?

I think around June or July. Definitely not this early in the year

The first SOAR dates were in late June. You should be able to sign up for them by the end of April.

has anyone that is international student and transfer from CC to CSULB been accepted? My major is Biology which is impacted and my GPA is 3.43. Do you think I have a chance? But my out-of-country GPA is too low- 2.4. :frowning: But that was like 2 or 3 years ago before I came to US to study. Do you think they will accept me because I have showed that I am actually working hard now?

Hey do you think I have a chance at csulb? It’s my first choice

Psat: 1620 (shooting for 1700+)
Gpa: unweighted 2.99 (APs)
Act: planning on in the 26-30’s

High school: brea olinda, orange county
Great EC’s if it counts for anything

Prospective Theater major

Has anybody tried purchasing a parking permit? I have tried and tried again logging in with my ID and password but it keeps telling me it’s incorrect.

has anyone gottten their Presidential SCholar acceptnace letters?

@samd1993- I sent an email yesterday asking when we will get results and they said they STARTED sending out letters last week but it will take a while for them to send it all because it’s a rolling process. I’m just as anxious as you. Good luck!
