CSULB, CSUN, or CSUF - Accounting - and VS UC's?

(Transfer student)

Which has a stronger accounting program, higher CPA pass rate, and better job prospects following graduation?

Can anyone share their experience(s) in these programs? Pros/cons?

Also, how do CSU accounting programs and job opportunities compare to UC’s (i.e. UCSB, UCLA)?

My research so far:

CSUN

  • Big 4 in Meet-the-firms
  • Major is named Accountancy; offers information systems as a double major

CSUF

  • Big 4 in Meet-the-firms
  • AACSB accounting accredited
  • Enforced C average curves (https://gradetier.com/fullerton supports this) where professors are only allowed to give 1 A and average GPA around 2.0~2.5
  • Expensive and super limited parking availability

CSULB

I hate seeing threads go un-answered so I’ll chime in. I went to CSUN and while the program is good at preparing you for CPA exams (I’ve passed 3 so far) I wouldn’t want to go there again. Some people really like it there but I hate the underdog culture we have of living in the shadow of USC not to mention certain stupid courses like Gateway and 351COMM. I remember turning down SLO and if I had a chance to do it again I would have gone there even if it was a riskier investment if probably would have paid off more.

UCLA accepts just a handful of Biz transfers every year. I don’t know your stats but, for most people, they aren’t realistic transfer targets. UCSB has the TAG program so, they could be viable. That link will show you the transfer stats by major for each UC and should help you assess realistic targets.

As far as CSUFullerton, Northridge and LB, I’d say LB has a nominally better reputation but, it really won’t make a difference - as far as interviews, job prospects, etc. What will matter is solid grades and decent experience… which you can get at all of them. Assuming you get in, go where you will be happy and make the most of the opportunities that campus offers.
