CSULB Fall 2018 Transfer Thread

My counselor told me that they will consider summer classes only if you have an AA-T or AS-T for transfer though. Hopefully you’ll be able to take it in the summer once accepted!

@tjrgud No it didn’t say anything prior to that. It still says the same thing :frowning:

How hard is it for health science majors to get in?

@bruvvvvv I applied for health science: community health with a 3.3 so I’m hoping to get in. All prerequisites done. I know that the prereqs are identical to the nursing program so idk if that makes it more competitive or less?

@12baymax05 I applied for the school health education with a 3.15 with 1 prereq still in progress (should be done by the end of this spring). I’m hoping it’s easy to get into the school

@bruvvvvv are you local? you’d have a good chance but if you’re not CSULB is one of the tougher CSUs. Good luck hope to find out this week!!

@12baymax05 nah i’m from the san francisco/oakland area. I only have a 3.15 because of this dumb physiology class I had to take when I was a freshman at SJSU. I was a prenursing major then and I was forced to take that class because I didn’t want to be behind and I eventually failed the class because the teacher was awful and other circumstances. However for the major four prereqs I have good grades in:

Human Biology (in progress)
Statistics (A)
Psychology (A)
Nutrition (A)

Oral Communication (A)
Written Communication (B)
Critical thinking (in progress)
Mathematics (Stats class=A)

So those classes I have a really good grade/gpa and the only thing really lowering me down was that physiology class. Hope they see that in my transcript since I can’t explain it to them unless I appeal but I hope i dont have to go through that

@bruvvvvv I think you still need the physiology course unless you took combined anatomy+physiology in 1 class?

@12baymax05 nope I dont think so it doesn’t say anything on this (http://web.csulb.edu/depts/enrollment/admissions/transfer-major-criteria/CHHS.html#q_g9) but if I do I’m taking both anatomy and physiology (separately) anyways

Major: Psychology
GPA: 3.62
AA-T/AA: Will be completed this semester
Golden 4: A,A,B,B
Local: No, Tuolumne County, CA
No decision yet

Major: Business admin - Finance
GPA: 3.85 , does an associates degree for transfer boost this to 3.95?
AA-T/AA: will be completed by end of spring semester
Golden 4: all A’s
major prep: all A’s
Local: No
Does anyone know when admission notices are sent out? good luck to all!

@CFinance Your associates degree does give you a bump ^^ 0.1 GPA bump to be exact.

So far I have seen freshmen and SOME transfers getting admission notices.

I’m shocked CSUF came out before LB based on past years. I hope they will be up this week. a lot of freshmen have been getting in today

@12baymax05 Same here. Hoping that this week we finally hear something. I’ve been checking religiously and impatiently. lol

do u guys think that dropping a course in progress in this semester will affect the admission decision? also , the course is not a required for the major
let me know ur thoughts. thanks

@45744gyy is it a GE class?

Are there any English majors who got accepted?

Have they already started sending out admission notifications to transfers? Looks like freshmen have already started to receive theirs.

@svkashani I have seen a few decisions from CSULB for transfers but it seems like freshmen are having first dibs.

Today CSUF has notify both transfers and freshmen.

I think we might be getting it by the end of this week hopefully.
