Will I be more successful in the long run going to UCI because of the prestige? Does the name really matter?
As a veteran who has been through the job market and currently in grad school, I would say there are more factors than the name.
Funny enough that same scenario happened to me five years as a junior transfer I at first regret my decision choosing CSULB over UCR and UCI because of money. However, I was told by my professors that skills, GPA, connections were also important factors. I followed their advice and gotten a high GPA, inducted into honor societies, developed great skills, obtained connections, and etc. I was able to get an internship at a company where I competed with lots of UCI, UCLA, and etc. graduates. The reason how I got the internship was not because of the school name, but by the factors I listed above. I did very well in the internship and was able to get converted to an full-time position with a very good salary. Now I am currently working on my Master’s at USC.
Thanks for the info, I will go from there. This case is closed
