Apparently there is a writing assessment test we need to take before our first semester at CSULB. Anyone know what will be on the writing assessment and what we can do to prepare for it?
where did you hear this at?
@csulbkines nothing yet? Let me know when you hear anything please!
Nothing yet I want the email!!! Yeah pls let me know when you get it @wedgebaby
Which emphasis are you?
@csulbkines my emphasis is exercise science, what’s yours?
@mondayareok where did you hear this from? Are you sure that applies to transfer students?
@sarrod799, @mondayareok is correct however we don’t have to take it prior to attending, but we do need to take it our first semester at csulb. They do recommend that we take it prior to attending though.
@mondayareok It’s called the GWAR and basically you have to register for an appointment and you go in and they give you the prompt with a topic and a couple of articles to use for evidence and they tell you that you have like two or three hours to write an essay. I’m pretty sure if you pass you’ll only have to take one English class and if you fail you’ll have to take a couple of English classes lol. It’s a new requirement that they put in last year for all CSU’s. My sister goes to CSULB and said it wasn’t bad at all and she knows someone who is a terrible writer who still passed.
Does anyone know how long it takes for the verification of the AS-T to be sent to Long Beach? I live in Napa and we were hit by a fire a little over a week ago, around the time I found out I was accepted, and my community college has been closed down and won’t reopen until this Monday and I haven’t had the chance to meet with a counsler. I’ve called long beach and am still waiting to hear back from them about what to do, but they said that I shouldn’t be penalized for getting it in late. I think I may still be able to get it in on time though.
Hello Everyone,
I was accepted a while back and I sent it all my official documents. My CSULB page says that I have no other ‘To Do’s’, so, what’s next? Do we just register for orientation?
I called Enrollment Services and they told me that all we do is wait. They need to review our official transcripts, which takes about 2 to 3 weeks, and after that they will send us an email with the next steps!
Congrats to everyone who got it
Is anyone planning on dorming?
Is there a Facebook page for Spring 2018 Transfer Students? Would really like to see what we are all doing to get ready during this transition time before school starts.
How do we find out about financial aid? When I check on the portal it doesn’t have any information about what I would receive.
@Isawthesine - Did you add them to your FAFSA already?
I added them to my FAFSA Sept 17th along with a couple other places I applied to,
I was accepted by CSULB Oct 9th,
and they updated and posted my ‘options’ (Loans, etc…) in the portal Oct 28th.
@MLopez24 you added them to your 2017-2018 Fafsa? Sorry if that is a stupid question I just want to double check
@Isawthesine Yes, to my 2017-2018 FAFSA for Spring 2018. I just got an email form FAFSA telling me to renew or add for 2018-2019, but that one would be for Fall 2018.
@MLopez24 Thank you so much for the help! How long did it take for you to find out what you would receive?
@Isawthesine I was accepted oct 9th, and CSULB updated my portal financial aid section Oct 28th. In my case, it took 19 days after they accepted me.
I have yet to accept their offer, so that has no bearing on getting financial aid info.
Nov 15 is the decision cut off, so hopefully they update it before then so you can decide. I only got loans offered to me.
@wedgebaby i got my acceptance email this morning!
