CSULB Transfer Question: Design Major

Hi there,

I am currently attending a CCC and I am applying this upcoming fall for Fall 2013 at Cal State Long Beach. As I'm sure everyone is aware, the CSU's are crazy impacted, especially Long Beach. I just want to know what my chances are of getting in.

I have 55 units completed with a 3.01 GPA and my major is Design and I just have to finish the History requirement and I'll be done with my Gen Ed and will get my associates degree. This upcoming year (2012-2013) I am taking the five pre req classes that I have for my major as have already done two of them ( I got A's in both). I also found out that I am eligible to do the Honor's Program at my college since I drastically improved my GPA, so the head of the program is willing to let me in. This means I have to take six honors classes to complete the program; but I won't be done until the end of the 2012-2013 school year which means Long Beach won't know if i completed the program.

I am concerned because my GPA is very low and it doesn't make me competitive. However, does it help that I will have all of my GE, major pre-reqs, and possibly completing my schools honors program? It's a bummer because I am literally 5-10 miles outside of Long Beach's radius for accepting local applicants :(

If anyone has any info that would be great. Thanks!

P.S. Also if anyone has info on other schools that offer Design as a B.A., that info would help me out too :)

I know this post is a little old but I just wanted to send you this link in case you hadn’t yet seen it. It has the fall 2011 admission results for CSULB. According to the stats your particular major had an admittance rate of 79%, which I would say is pretty darn good. My major communicative disorders only had an admittance rate of 18% :(
