Csulb vs Csusm

So I have narrowed my options to Cal state long beach and San Marcos. I toured both when there was no students on campus so i didn’t get to see too much.

What are the vibes of the students on both campuses? I’m looking for a surf/ beach vibe.

How do the academics differ? I would be a business and communications major.

What are the grad rates like?

I liked that lb had more majors, but the location was a little sketch. Not very pretty and a bit ghetto! On the flip, LA and OC are so close!

CSUSM’s campus is stunning but they don’t have many majors! Also, The acceptance rate is much higher… Idk if that means much.

Anyways, which school would you recommend? (I live in a very safe, upper class neighborhood in the bay)

I live on the exact opposite of the country and I don’t know too much about the California colleges. That being said I’ve heard that CSU Long Beach is one of the top CSU’s. I’ve never heard of San Marcos. If I was living in California, CSULB would be one of my top choices. Just some food for thought.

What majors are you interested in, and does each campus have them, and are they easy or difficult to get into at each campus?

CSULB is a mostly commuter campus; only 36% of frosh live in the dorms. CSUSM recent common data sets do not appear to report that consistently; older ones indicate about 30% of frosh lived in the dorms several years ago.

CSULB is one of the top CSUs.

What’s your intended major?
