CSULB vs UC Riverside

These are the only two colleges I got accepted into. I got in for chemical engineering. I am aware that UC Riverside has more prestige than CSULB simply because it is a UC. The buildings seem very new compared to CSULB, and the dorms are better. Im not a racist, but the higher percentage of asians at UCR is also a plus.
Also, I read an article that ranked UCR as #6 for the most unsatisfied college students. And CSULB actually has a smaller acceptance rate than UCR.
Also CSULB seems to have better weather and location.

Im really torn between the two schools, what do you guys recommend?

I got into both and personally I rather got to CSULB (a top tier CSU) than UCR a (low tier UC). CSULB is much cheaper and the location is definitely better. UCR is in the middle of nowhere and can get very hot. It is also one of the referral UCs, meaning if you didn’t get into the UCs you applied to and have the appropriate stats, you’re placed at UCR or UCM. I’m assuming you’re from California so have you visited both schools? Do you happen to be Filipino by the way?

Yes i am filipino, why? ive seen both campuses, but i havn’t really taken a tour. So im just wondering what each person’s opinions are on the schools.

I was just wondering since you’re account name is pnoy. xD Maybe you should visit again and for a longer time since you’re still undecided. Are you from SoCal?

actually, UCR is filled with mexicans… I also read somewhere that some of their major’s weren’t accredited… CSULB, is also more prestigious than UCR, even though it’s a UC… But if you want to transfer in the future to a decent UC, you should definitely go to UCR :).

more prestigious?..what

CSULB - ChemE has been accredited since 1980
UCR - ChemE has been accredited since 1995

@pnoyadawg ,same major i got into but i am torn btwn csulb and pomona

the rason for that is that BCOE opened in 1990.
and no UCR>CSULB tell when was the last time CSULB did research to extend the California crop growing season to 8 month. Also does CSULB have a Med school? I think not.

UCR sounds better, since its a more research-oriented schools. plus, if you want to go to grad schools, UC are best for that. doesnt mean CSU suck at all though… my top choice was actually a CSU.

in now way am I putting CSULB down it was my dream school since I was 12 but I just went to UCR for a tour and fell in love with it. pnoyadawg I highly recommend you go for a tour of both campuses.

and the weather aint that bad in Rside and we have casinos :p
