I want to study nursing in the future and got into pre-nursing for CSULB and human development for UC Davis. I want to know which school I should go to....and Im leaning more on CSULB at this moment. What do you guys think?

If I go to UCD then I'll be studying something for four years that I won't necessarily "love" but it's a good school. At CSULB, I would be studying what I want but it's extremely competitive to get declared nursing as a major your junior year and in terms of ranking, UC Davis is better than LB. I heard that it's better to always choose a UC over a csu?

Well, not always, but Davis is very well regarded in biological sciences if CSULB isn’t a sure thing to get into their nursing, I’d go to Davis, myself. But I like Davis, anyhow.

Absolutely not, and you have a perfect example of why. CSULB has the major you want that lets you enter your choice of careers. Davis does not. How are you going to get work as a nurse with a degree in human development? You can’t, obviously. You’ll need to apply to a nursing program, but the barrier to get in is going to be just as high as the one you will face at CSULB – they are going to look at more or less the same courses that CSULB does in order to decide whether to admit you.

But if you know what you want and are determined to get there, then you can do it! Take advantage of all the resources you can. Go to office hours. Get “Problem Solver” books to work thru extra problems until you can confidently and reliably answer the questions. Many students in college math/science classes find they spend 6-9 hours outside of class each week studying the chapter, doing the homework, doing extra problems until they really have the material down. If it means enough to you then you’ll do it too.
