CSUN Admission

I’m going to be a senior in highschool and I would be considered a local resident if I were to apply to CSUN. What are my chances of getting accepted if I’m applying to an impacted major (finance). I have a 2.9 GPA and I will be taking 4 AP’s this upcoming year.
I am very involved in school by having over 200 hours in service hours (key club and other), president of 2 clubs, and being in a finance academy. I took classes at CSUN during my freshman- junior year (communication classes) so would this also help? I would be able to get a couple of good letters of rec too…

If my test scores for my ACT and SAT aren’t too good, would it be harder for me to get in even if I’m a local student? or should I just apply to another major that isn’t impacted and then apply for a double major?

Cal states will only consider your 10th and 11th grades when calculating your gpa. It is really all about gpa and test scores at CSUN. The 200 hours/local resident will help, but with impacted major, not so much. If you really want to do “finance” you may want to hold off by attending a CC first and then transferring as a junior (you will get preferential treatment transferring from their local CC) or as you suggest pick a different major. Have you attempted to figure out your admittance eligibility score on their website?

I would meet the minimum requirement for the impacted major.

For CSUN, you probably need to exceed their stated minimum by a bit, even as a local applicant. What is your EI and intended major?
