Anyone out there an art major with illustration as their emphasis? How’s the program? My daughter is newly accepted as an incoming freshman. CSULB was her first choice but now she is seriously considering CSUN. Would love to hear some feedback on the school.
Thanks!
Hey there! A transfer not in Northridge but applied and hopefully admitted! I’m a animation/illustration major who did tons of research on CSUN. It seems that some students say some of the art majors there seem “like they don’t belong” because there is no portfolio review to get into the their art program. So there might be more attention given to people who need it. But overall students say they have a solid program, it’s really what you make of it. I’ve read that their core teachings are on traditional media so if your daughter is into digital stuff there may not be as much classes as she likes. CSUN is also is very close to Burbank so studios like Nickelodeon, DreamWorks, ect. have some ties with them (internships n’ such) and a cool animation club as well!
Thats some of the information I can offer! Hope it helps a lil
Thanks so much for your input! I am crossing everything that you get your acceptance soon! She is getting excited about CSUN for sure! She is a traditional artist so it sounds like this might be a perfect fit. Not to mention she would like to work for one of the major studios one day! She is president of her school art club and is fine getting herself involved in the community. We are going to head up to check it out on Explore CSUN day so I think that will be the determining day for her for sure. Keep me posted on your status!
@TeacherOB
Thank you so much!! They actually admitted me today! : D I’m really excited!
Congrats to your daughter too! She sounds ready for her artistic career, and I wish her nothing but the best!
Have a good time at CSUN day!
Congratulations! I’m so happy for you! Good luck to you as well!
