I called the CSUN admissions office this morning to try and figure out why it’s taking so long to find out whether I’ve been denied or accepted into the school. I knew CSUN was impacted, but the admissions office informed me that they will soon make an official announcement that any non-local applicants will be denied if their GPA does not meet a minimum of 3.9. Has anyone else heard this as well? The woman on the phone told me I “better have a plan B if my GPA isn’t at least a 3.9.” It made me panic, but a minimum of 3.9 for a transfer applicant seems ridiculous. Please let me know if you’re already been accepted and the stats that got you in!
I’m an Art Major transferring from a community college with my Associates degree.
GPA: 3.6
Tier 2 applicant
CSUN has really been pushing limiting acceptances to their local area so I would not be surprised if that is their new policy on transfers. As you see from this announcement CSUN says you must have a higher GPA if you are not from the local admission area. http://www.csun.edu/sites/default/files/TransferImpactionFAQv4.pdf
@obliviouscat Hey, how do you know if you’re tier 1 or tier 2? Does it say anywhere on the application?
I’m from within LA (local area) and applied as transfer with a 3.91 GPA. I still haven’t heard back from them. My portal says “official final transcript required” under incomplete tasks which ofcourse will be available in June after Spring 2016 ends. Should I be worried?
I called about a month ago and they told me 2 tier students needed a 3.95. The lady even seemed rude about it. Which I didn’t not get why she was since im a 1 tier student. Still haven’t herd anything from them yet
I just got off the phone with admissions again and they did confirm the 3.9 requirement for tier 2. I know two transfer tier 2 applicants who got in last year with both a 2.85 and 3.1! Talk about bad timing for us current tier 2 transfers haha.
I am a tier 1 applicant for pre-accountancy with a 3.2 GPA and 2 associates degrees. I have been calling every single week and they keep telling me next week. Does not anyone know by when they have to send out all responses. I also talked to a representative, and they told me they can not tell me until I finish all CSU transfer requirement courses. He told me until i send the transcript showing i completed all requirements they will not give me a response. Is that accurate? Because Sacramento State accepted me.
I have a 3.1 and I called today and the lady told me that shes admitting me. I asked a similar question, but she said i i didnt need to finish all my classes for me to find out, that when she looked at my trans and admitted me
1 is like in there zoning. The students who live close/feeder schools. 2 is out of area.
I just got accepted through my portal this morning so I think there finally making decisions
@thundermaier93 yeah seriously! I get that they’re trying to accept as many local students as possible, but its completely screwing over any transfer students who have completed their coursework and still have really good GPA’s. Applicants in tier 1 get accepted with a minimum GPA of 2.5 or something, they need to rethink the changes made from the impactions. There’s gotta be a better way to do it.
@joelalvarez23 Maybe they are referring to the “golden four” if they dont have proof that you have taken them or are currently enrolled in those courses, they can’t admit you.
Thank you for your application for Fall 2016. We have carefully reviewed your application for admission and supporting documents and find that you do not meet transfer admission eligibility requirements for non-local applicants.
For Fall 2016 admission, the transfer GPA criteria for non-local applicants is 3.90. I received that email sadly.
@obliviouscat For real man, this is gay for you transfer dudes, especially since the min. gpa for tier 1 students is actually 2.40 so they should put it higher for tier 1 now, gl on finding a good school tho man
“You have applied for Undergraduate admissions as a Transfer Student for the Fall Semester 2016, as a Resident. You have indicated an academic plan of Public Health.
Your re-admission has been denied. Your previously disqualified reinstatement was denied by the Advisement Center of College of Health & Human Dev.
If you have taken Advance Placement Test(s), or the International Baccalaureate test, or CLEP test, have official scores sent to the Admissions and Records office.”
I don’t get it, I’ve never applied to CSUN before this much less attended there so how can I have been disqualified from the school. It seems like their saying I previously went there.
SMH. getting kicked out before I even got in lol
I mean not like I was expecting to get in with that 3.9 minimum GPA thing but still.
Lol yeah I called the office and they said the message was a mistake, but I still didn’t get in lol. Might as well turn the school into a higher level community college
