CSUN to UCLA -- possible?

Hi - I'm pretty sure it's not allowed, but I think some of you might have some insight as to what the policy is on CSU to UC transfer. I just got out of community college and was planning on transferring to UCSD to major in Lit/Writing, but long story short I'll have to take 16 units per quarter in order to graduate in 2 years plus summer classes most likely (and I have to retake 2 classes I've already taken at comm. college but that they won't accept for petition credit because it's similar but not EXACTLY the same), and I'm starting to think it's not worth it...

So, instead of going there I was thinking about CSU Northridge since they seem to have a good Creative Writing program there and they won't hassle me about my major prep like UCSD, it just automatically transfers over.

Thing is, I still really want to go to a UC school, and I was wondering if it was at all possible to go to CSUN for 1 year and then transfer to UCLA? I looked at what courses are required to obtain an English degree at UCLA, and they have what appear to be the exact same courses at CSUN (i.e. - at CSUN English 420 is Milton, at UCLA English 133 is Milton, etc.)

Any info is appreciated! thanks

So let me get this straight. You went to a community college, applied to transfer and got into CSUN, and now you want to go to CSUN for one year and transfer again as a senior? If so, that would be impossible.

I have heard that it is a lot harder to transfer to UC from a CSU than it is to transfer from community college. If you did go to CSU first, you would already be a senior by the time you transfer to UC. I heard that you can do it, but it is a lot harder. Also, you need 4 semesters of foreign language for UCLA's English department. I don't know if you are aware of that. Anyway, if you are dead set on going to a UC, why not just take the extra classes or check out some of the other campuses? Maybe UCSB or UCI would be better suited to your needs than UCSD.

Also, assist.org is your friend. Make sure that you are taking articulated classes so that you aren't wasting any more of your time and money on all of these classes that don't transfer over.

just to clarify did you already go to CCC? IF you did and transfered out it will be near impossible to transfer again to a UC.

" I just got out of community college and was planning on transferring to UCSD to major in Lit/Writing, but long story short I'll have to take 16 units per quarter in order to graduate in 2 years "

On the bright side, you can go to UCLA for graduate school.
