CSU's and lower tier UC's with nursing

My friend is going to be a senior in a few weeks and he hasn't started looking at colleges, so I have been trying to help him out. He wants to go into nursing, and I don't know anything about nursing programs (I'm going into business) so this is where I need help. He wants to stay in California and can only afford CSU's and UC's. I think his GPA is around 3.4 and his ACT is a 21(?) ,but he said that he will take it again.

Suggestions???

UCI and SJSU have nursing program, both program are impacted.

Thanks, but I’m pretty sure he’ll get rejected from UCI. Any others?

The UCs that have a nursing program are:
Davis
Irvine (nursing science program)
Los Angeles
San Francisco

Lots of Cal States have nursing programs:
California State University, Bakersfield
California State University, Channel Islands
California State University, Chico
California State University, East Bay
California State University, Fresno
California State University, Fullerton
California State University, Long Beach
California State University, Los Angeles
California State University, Northridge
California State University, Sacramento
California State University, San Bernardino
California State University, San Marcos
California State University, Stanislaus
Humboldt State
San Diego State
San Francisco State
San Jose State
Sonoma State

UCSF has no undergraduate program at all.
If you are sure he is not going to be accepted by UCI, then a CSU near home will be the best bet.

Try UCI anyway…

Thanks courer for that list, I’ll be sure to pass that on to him.

artlovers plus- I doubt he’ll improve on his ACT because he isn’t a very motivated student, so it’ll be next to impossible for him to get into UCI. San Marcos and Fullerton are pretty close to home, so I’ll try to get him to look at those two.

maybe a 4-year college isn’t for him. He can become an RN thru a 2-year training school (including many CC’s that are quite inexpensive) and the focus will be on nursing instead of academic subjects that it sounds like bore him. Or he could get into the workforce even quicker as a LPN. Take a look at webs sites such as [Registered Nurses](http://www.bls.gov/oco/ocos083.htm) or [RN Schools | Learn What To Expect In Registered Nursing School on All Nursing Schools](http://www.allnursingschools.com/nursing-resources/rn-schools.php)
