My Sacramento State University orientation day didn't go as planned. My admission was taken away because I didn't take the English placement test. I was told by my high school councilor is that you only needed to take it to be exempt from taking remedial classes. Having my admission taken away for not taking an English placement test seems a bit drastic. I didn't really mind taking remedial classes because my family went on vacation very early in the year and i wasnt able to take the tests. My SAT scores for English was only 40 points off the required minumum for me to be able to become exempt from the test. My SAT scores and gpa for college was more than the required amount for this state school and i just believe that taking away my admission was a bit much for them to do. And they decided to do that when many of the schools in california are going to begin in two weeks. I was told at the college that the latest date for me to turn in my test scores for ept was June 30th and i was only informed of that today. They waited until my orientation day which was today, to break the news to me. I don't really know what to do at this point. And i really need help. I have a passion for going to college, and believe that i made a small mistake, that im willing to fess up to. Do i have a chance at appealing for reinstatement at this school or should i just give up and possibly try to find a community college that would be able to take me in 2 weeks time.

Ill clarify more on it, i was just wondering if anyone was able to help me with my problem. (sorry if this was in the wrong thread, and if it was someone please redirect me to the correct one)

It’s sad, but the CA schools are so overenrolled they are anxious to get anyone out they can. I think you will find that the rules for testing were sent to you early on. One point or 40 makes no difference. I would see if you can get classes at a CC for now.

^“The Elementary Level Math (ELM) and English Placement Test (EPT) tests determine what English and Math classes students will be required to take at Sac State. These tests MUST be fulfilled prior to Student Orientation and should be completed NO LATER than May 1st.”

The information regarding the required placement exams is clearly spelled out on their website.

You need to call up the school and follow up with them directly.

Yeah thats understandable.

The councilor i talked to at Sac State, told me that if i waited a whole year I’d be able to reassign myself as a Freshmen as long as i dont go to a Jr College. I was wondering, if that applies for the other schools that i was accepted me into their schools. Will i have to reapply? Sorry for all the confusing questions, I’m just really trying to fix what little I can for the future.

You need to call each school directly and get the specific information from them.
Regarding Sac State: Be specific with your questions when you call them. Find out exactly what the procedure is for re-applying for next year (or maybe for next semester). Do the same for each school where you were previously accepted and are still considering attending.
