<p>Is there any benefit to attending one of the earlier First Year Orientation Sessions? Do you have a better chance of getting the classes/schedule you would like most?</p>
<p>There are seats in every class reserved for different CTOPS sections. Having said that, I do believe you get a marginal advantage attending an earlier session.</p>
<p>I think you should go to the earliest session you can. At CTOPS, they will give you an obnoxiously short time to register for classes…it’s something like 15 minutes or 1/2 hour but not long enough for folks new to the system and trying to get a working schedule. So the probability is that you will come out with a schedule that is missing a class you want or that is not friendly…whatever friendly means to you. Going early means that you can then spend the time after CTOPS looking at all the classes/class times and perfecting your schedule when drop/add time arrives.</p>
