My son applied to Leeds, Early Action. He was accepted into the Exploratory Studies program but not Leeds or Pre-Business. Will he be invited at a later date into Pre-Business or would that have already happened?
My son also applied to Leeds and got into the Pre-Business Program per the letter we received from CU. If you get admitted to Pre-Business you apparently are also considered to be Exploratory Studies until you officially transfer to Leeds. Might be worth confirming your specific situation with the school to be sure.
Applied to engineering RD, out of state 1410 SAT and 3.9 weighted gpa. From comparing myself to the others who applied to engineering at my school I’m almost certain I won’t get directly admitted to engineering and will probably get pre-engineering. Just looking for information on pre-engineering, like if you can take the same classes, when is the quickest you can transfer up and what % do end up transferring to engineering. If anyone can help i’d appreciate it.
@Nightingalej - This page has the info you are looking for - https://www.colorado.edu/pre-engineering/how-pre-engineering-works , also, there is a live chat session that pops up, when you are on that page, so you can have your other related questions addressed as well hopefully.
Did everyone already apply for housing? If so did you do it on February 4/right away? I’m nervous I won’t get central campus because I applied Feb 19…
@coolkid88 I think a lot of people (including me) are still waiting to hear back from other schools in March, and you can only apply for housing after you commit to CU, which means a bunch of people are probably still undecided in their future school and thus haven’t signed up for housing yet. I wouldn’t be too stressed about it
Son admitted. ACT 33, GPA 3.6 weighted. Accepted to Honors college w/ $25k scholarship. Better put in for dorms soon so we get a good one! Is Sewall still the top choice?
Did anyone OOS get Engineering Scholarship in addition to the regular Merit Scholarship (the $25K over 4yrs = $6250 per year)?
Does anyone have an idea from past experience when move in dates usually are in August? It says TBA on the website. I see classes start on the 26th. I know my other 2 kids colleges always had them move in about a week before for orientation things. Just trying to plan ahead.
Last year move in began Aug 18th and continued through August 21st depending on resident hall. Classes began on Aug 27th.
@sunnyschool, yes, OOS son was offered an Engineering Scholarship in addition to Chancellor’s. Still doesn’t make much of a dent, though…
My son also received the Engineering Scholarship on top of the Presidential, so it makes OOS tuition fairly close to our in-state options.
@FLWahoo and @CaliDad2020 - thanks - wondering if I should call because website implies if you get Chancellors, you will get Engineering also. Can I ask, is the Engineering Scholarship $10K over 4 yrs? Thanks!
I believe it’s for $12K over four years.
How did you know you were officially admitted? Did yoi first get an email or check portal? I don’t see anywhere that says my status or pending or anything. What do you see in portal?
@college2019bound
“Status Update
An update to your application was last posted January 11, 2019” is what it says for me (EA).
Has anyone heard back from the College of Music? Or any insight from current students/previous auditionees?
Any idea when RD will be released? I really hope its not late march.
Literally five minutes after I asked when decisions would be released they posted them…Got in engineering open option with 1410 SAT 3.9 GPA, very surprised I got in. GPA doesn’t mean everything.
@xviiclassofxix On Music admission timing, I spoke to the always helpful Music admissions director yesterday since I thought it would be this week by mail, and we are about to leave town for a bit. She made a point of looking up my daughter “to see where she was in the review process” – so someone else’s timing may vary. She said that my daughter should expect an email telling her to check her portal tomorrow (now today) for an update. That update will say whether she passed her audition to the point of being admitted to the College of Music, but that may only mean at the BA level. Whether she passed the audition to the point of being admitted to BM or BME level programs and other details would come in a letter being mailed tomorrow (now today) — again your timing may vary. My daughter was admitted to CU EA and auditioned on the first weekend, but I do not know if that effects her news timing; I would think they make program wide decisions at one time. Also as of now, her portal has not updated today, so I’m guessing we get the first non-determinative piece of news this evening.
