Sorry I have a million posts on the subject- ignore the other ones.

Short story: I live in the U.S. I've wanted to study abroad in Sweden for a while. I've actually wanted to learn the Swedish language as well (even here). I'm fascinated by the culture, landscape, language, and art of Sweden. Bottom line: I'm broke.

I've checked out language programs in Sweden and they're a few thousand bucks for a few weeks at certain institutes. From what I know, universities in Sweden have free tuition, it's a matter of having money for room and board.

Through some digging I've found many (confusing) sites talking about scholarships offered specifically to help students with funding simply for living in Sweden. MANY apply if one is specifically studying the language or something about the culture.

My major is in filmmaking, though I have many unused electives, enough for a MINOR. Is it feasable to apply for these scholarships with the intent of getting a minor in the language? I mean, I'm not using this as some sort of trick- I never really wanted to go to Sweden to learn filmmaking or anything, but to study the language and the culture to begin with. I have no problem doing any kind of program that is specifically geared towards learning the language or doing research on the culture.

Problem is I'm still and undergraduate. I'm no doctor or post graduate so this idea seems half-baked. But I'm being honest and sincere- anyone with EXPERIENCE with CULUTURAL IMMERSION programs please let me know about this.

Thank you
