Culture at Barnard

I’m considering applying ED to Barnard for the class of 2022 and was just wondering if anybody could give me a better idea of what the general culture is like at Barnard. I am a liberal, nyc girl but am not an extreme feminist or queer (not that I have anything against those things but they’re just not me). I know that these are two prominent characteristics at Barnard but do you think that if you aren’t those things you won’t fit in?? Any reply regarding the social culture (including party scene) would be super helpful!!

Also, how ofter to Barnard girls interact with Columbia guys in terms of hook ups, dating, partying with them etc?

Barnard is fully integrated socially with Columbia. If you are interested in hook ups and partying, there are plenty of frat parties you can attend. (My daughter wasn’t interested in that sort of stuff, and did not have very nice things to say about the drinking that went on at them… but they certainly were there for my DD to complain about).

But neither Barnard nor Columbia are considered party schools – if “party scene” is high on your list of priorities, you might find the Barnard/Columbia community in general to be too serious for your tastes.
