Hi! So I have been assigned to live in Cumberland Hall. I'm on the 3rd floor, which is the floor for CP Scholars life sciences program 9even though I'm in GPH). I know the dorm experience mainly depends on the individual people, but I would appreciate it if anyone that has lived in Cumberland before to give me some feedback on their own experiences or just about the environment in Cumberland in general. Thanks in advance!

Congratulations on being accepted into the Scholars program! Living in Cumberland is not bad at all for a freshman dorm. Not only do you have A/C, but you’re pretty close to the diner and the gym, and your classes will be close as well.

Also convenient to InCon on one side, and LaPlata beach on the other…

InCon is the nickname for the convenient store in the Cambridge Community Center.

La Plata beach is the big open space between LaPlata and Cumberland…lots of casual volleyball games among other things.

I lived in cumb both my freshman and sophomore years and I absolutely loved it. There is a real sense of community if you make an attempt to get to know the people on your floor and others within the building. In my opinion, it is the best dorm on campus. Close to the gym, close to LaPlata, and not terribly far from any academic buildings. Enjoy your time in cumberland

Can anyone give any information on this hall? I’m in a triple this year there and was wondering about room size/space and furniture; other amenities in the hall such as a communal kitchen perhaps?

Hi 4everdancer18,

DS is also on the 3rd floor of Cumberland. It looks to be very convenient to everything and I am hearing great comments about it. Most important to DS - it has air-conditioning!!! Looks as if this is a good start to your freshman year.

ForzaNatalia: Ellicott is pretty basic. The room furniture is pretty much like the other dorms: bed, desk, and dresser. The rooms are typically small. There’s a lounge on all but the first floor. I don’t think the lounge has much: a sink and a microwave.
