I am currently studying in a CC, completed 29 credits with a GPA 4.0.
I decided to apply to University of Minnesota, but unfortunately their school of management do not accept application of spring semester.
I heard that the accounting program at both CUNY Baruch and SUNY Binghamton are repute.
And both of them have network connections with big4 firms.
Binghamton's tuition is $3000 higher than Baruch, but the expenditure living in Binghamton will be much cheaper.
I think I might have a chance to get in their honor program.
If my highest concern is career opportunities after graduation, which school should I apply to?

bump

Baruch is great for accounting. Lots of big and mid-size firms recruit there.

@NYCguy2020 Even through Baruch’s ranking is lower than Binghamton’s, a lot of people from this forum agree that Baruch is a better college for accounting, isn’t it? But what’s the reason?

I know people who are accounting majors and have done very well out of SUNY Binghamton. If that is the cheaper option (including living expenses) I’d probably go there. Best things seems to be to apply to both, see if you get any aid, and then evaluate.

And just so you know, to become a CPA you now need 150 credits. Many people go on to get a one year MS in Accounting to get the necessary credits.

Well let’s see, tons of career fairs and firms interview opportunities, solid faculty/staff, All Big 4 and mid-size firms are showing up heavily especially for fall. In other words, Baruch is a steal at its price, networking and recruiting. It provides great opportunities that most other schools(with more than double the tuition) can’t offer.

@happy1 Thank you so much. So, is it possible to get any aid if I am a international transfer student? Do you know if Binghamton offer aid for international students?

@NYCguy2020 it sounds attractive!

Can anyone who is/ was a student from baruch or binghamton give me an opinion?

No idea about aid for internationals, especially since it is a NYS supported school, but in general aid for transfer students is not great. You need to contact the schools and do your research.

I just graduated from Binghamton, I know a few accounting majors who have nice jobs lined up, and I know current students who have very good internships. I think both schools have many opportunities.

@rebeccar Thank you. So, would you agree that employer consider Binghamton’s and Baruch’s reputation the same?

I would say so.
